Company Profile
Silent-Sight Productions is a Vancouver-based production company started by two Capilano University Film School Documentary Program graduates – Shelley Morten and Steve Pojitski under the original name "VanWestFilm Productions." Established in 2010, to date we have completed two self-funded documentaries – a 22-min short film on Body Image and Disordered Eating and a feature-length documentary on Mixed Martial Arts. We have also produced a CBC funded documentary, "Wrestling With Attitude," on Canadian Women’s Olympic wrestling which aired immediately prior to the 2012 Olympics on the CBC’s “Absolutely Vancouver” summer series.
Our first completed documentary, “One Body to Love,” was one of the “Editor’s Picks” on the (now closed) Openfilm.com website and received an Award of Merit from “The Indie Fest Film Awards Competition” in the category of Educational Films. “Fighting Average,” our documentary feature, was also an Official Selection of the "Action On Film International Film Festival" with Shelley nominated in the category of Best Documentary Director.
Several clips and trailers from our body of work can be viewed on this website via our "Media Gallery" page. Trailers for all three of our completed films, as well as the trailer for “Pop Goes the Culture,” a new documentary just resuming production, are also available for viewing on our YouTube Channel. The full versions of “One Body to Love” and "Wrestling With Attitude" can be viewed on our Vimeo website and “Fighting Average” is available to either download or stream online through the following website: www.hoopladigital.com/title/11143056#.
Additionly, Silent-Sight has produced three short PSAs – two on copyright infringement and the other, a co-production with Capilano University, about plagiarism. We have also filmed several short corporate and promotional videos for various organizations, as well as a 50-minute sports event special, complete with commentary. While we have historically focused on non-fiction films, we also have several short dramatic films to complete our repertoire.
Rebranded in 2016, Silent-Sight Productions , is set to launch a crowdfunding campaign to secure completion funding for our most recent documentary, "Pop Goes the Culture".
